The black lines in the wood are the "sleep" this is caused by the tree being in contact with fungi/mushrooms.
The beautiful decorative 'sleep' is caused by living fungi that only absorb sugars and the like from the tree, but that do not or hardly affect the wood.
The color sometimes bluish or pink is therefore not made in the wood, but slowly pulls in. Tree trunks with 'sleep' are rare.
